If you're a new author, who is just dying to get your ideas on paper, you start a journal, right?
Nope, not me. I fancied myself a person with lots of ideas, lots of creativity flowing through my veins, I just assumed I'd grab my laptop and start typing.
That was my first mistake.
My second mistake was thinking that no one could possibly be interested in what I had to say. Boy! Was I wrong.
I have spent thousands of hours reading romance novels, especially ones with steamy sex to go along with an engaging storyline. It has been the best preparation for writing in the romance genre. There are plenty of amazing romance authors, some indie, some traditionally published and some a hybrid of the two. Inspiration can come in many forms, but nothing is more motivating than reading success stories about authors who have come before you, and made it.
I have wanted to be a writer for most of my life and yet, I still dragged my feet to start this journey. What was it going to take? How many years would I walk through the bookstore, looking over book covers and wishing my name would be staring back at me?
One of the very first books I read on self-publishing, helped me decide whether I wanted to push forward and pursue this dream or let it go forever. Just a heads up here on this recommendation. I don't make any money promoting it. It's just my sincere belief that if you want a true perspective on the work it requires to self-publish, this book is gold.
The blurb reads:
The Naked Truth is not just another book about self-publishing. Nine New York Times Bestselling authors share their knowledge, their experiences, and their souls.
And, they do.
I read it, and, well, I guess you can see what I decided to do. It's hard work, but I love being my own boss and working the hours I want. No overnight success stories in this book. Most will tell you that it took hard work and patience, but they never gave up, and it paid off!
I'm just getting started! I hope you will follow me on Amazon! You can check out my author page here.
